I get a daily message from the Universe, and sometimes I like to share them. This is one of those days…
More love, Shari, means laughing longer, living lighter, running faster, jumping higher, starting sooner, staying later and a zippier artistic sensibility.
At least for some people… you know, hypothetically.
Since I will be unable to be with family this year (due to many factors…) I will be with dear friends who mean much to me. I am grateful for so many things and so many people (both family and friends) I do not always remember to thank, but you are all such a part of my life and I could not do it without you!
In reading my email this morning, I cam across this advent-like calendar for gratefullness and gratitude.
Thinking of my son, who will be unable to have turkey today due to an intestinal infection, but I am IMMENSELY grateful that it was only an infection.
I have been away from home “mother-sitting” so my ability to stay up to date on this is limited, but I have two photos to add. The first is out my window – even tho this pic was taken during the summer, I love it, and have added Kim’s and then some texture…What I am currently reading is “The Illuminated Rumi”, an absolutely stunning book
OK, I am home again, and ready to get back in sync. I love to travel, but it is always so good to get home again. And then I had to turn around and leave again for 3 days for a funeral. It was so good to sleep in my own bed last night.
Anyway, as far as I can tell, I am on Day 24 of 30 days of Get Your Art On and Day 6 of the Positive Challenge. I used yesterday’s post of the Mountain photos as Day 23.
Day 6’s challenge was to post the most inspirational book I have read. I sure seem to be indecisive on this challenge too, as there are so many books (as well as photo and quotes) to choose from. I guess that I would have to pick “The Illustrated Rumi” with Translations and Commentary by Coleman Barks and Illuminations by Michale Green. This is an absolutely stunning and inspiring book.
This book lives with all my other favorite books on a shelf beside my computer. This is way it was so difficult for me to pick only ONE book!Day 24 of Get Your Art On: I finished this large piece of fusible paper.
30 days of Get Your Art on Day 20
Lani Granville, a blogger and artist that I admire and follow, posted a great article this morning about a challenge called 30 Day Positive Challenge. It is a Facebook group, and there is a “rule” a day for you to use as a challenge post. If you follow the links you will see Lani’s post…
The challenge for Day One was: The most Inspirational Quote you have ever seen. Those of you who follow me regularly know that I am an enormous quote junkie. So this challenge was hard for me…
But I finally narrowed it down to this:
This is satisfying on so many levels for me: it is succinct, short, but enormously powerful. Knowing that I am enough, that what I have to offer the world is enough, and that I can be self-sufficient in my physical, artistic and emotional worlds was an empowering experience for me. The background for this quote is a pile of scraps that I was using to create my “Frayed Around the Edges” series. So the background is my magic, my incantation to the goddess of creativity !
I am doing another catchup on Beyond Layers, and combining it with 30 days of Getting Your Art On.
So this will be day 14 of 30 days, but day 47 of Beyond Layers. Is that confusing enough??
Beyond Layers by the fantastic Kim Klassen, who does excellent Photoshop, is a great year long class. Kim is starring Beyond Layers III in January. Check it out if you want to learn photoshop secrets, tips and tricks!
30 Days of Getting Your Art On (see icon in the sidebar to the right) is a program developed by Tracy Bunkers to encourage artists to make art everyday for 30 days.
Day 47’s assignment from Beyond Layers was Cuppa Cuppa Love, showing your favorite cups. My picture shows the post from Kim displayed on my laptop. When I saw what the days assignment was, I looked and I had my two favorite cups on either side of my laptop! Don’t ask me why I have two cups, but it was meant to be!
